Live like Preston
Justice for Preston Lord and “Live Like Preston” call us to change from the inside out—to look in the mirror and ask ourselves, “Am I part of the problem or part of the solution?”
They challenge us to be kinder, better humans. To spread love instead of hate. We don’t meet violence with violence. That isn’t who Preston was. He was a beautiful soul who helped others, even people he didn’t know. Honoring him means carrying that same love into how we treat one another.
After nearly three years, preparing to walk into that courthouse downtown still doesn’t get any easier. Every visit is a gut punch. Going through security. Heading upstairs. Walking past the other parties, their families and friends. Feeling the sideways glances. Seeing another young person in shackles. Knowing none of this can bring Preston home.
There is a deep hurt in watching life move forward for others while Preston’s family lives with a loss that touches every part of theirs. They are grieving in the public eye while continuing to show up, raise awareness, and share Preston’s light so another family won’t have to experience this pain.
Nobody wins here. A child has already been lost. Preston is more than a case number or a headline. He was a son, a brother, a friend—a child with a whole life ahead of him, whose life was taken.
“We are Preston Lord” means we keep showing up with love, accountability, and a commitment to creating a safer community. It means allowing his life to change how we live ours.
Please continue to keep the Lord family, Preston’s friends, and everyone who loves him in your prayers. Pray for strength through every court appearance, for justice, and for peace in the moments we don’t see. Keep our community in prayer through the ongoing court proceedings and releases.
May we keep Preston’s light shining through our actions, our kindness, and the way we protect and care for one another.
To the youth: We see you, we hear you and we stand by you one day at a time we will get through this together. I love you !
To the Lord family sending continued love and prayers I love you guys
Accountability and support can exist together. We can demand justice while working to prevent another tragedy. That starts with how we show up—in our homes, in our community, and behind our keyboards.
